Silk was born Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the mother of Peter, an educator and a leading actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna is able to recall some of her first memories as a child, including seeing her mother work during play rehearsals. Silk made several commercials while she was a child. She was in 1997 when she earned her bachelor's degree at St. Thomas University. Theatre St. Thomas staged at least 2 early plays: Seven Menus & The Kitchen. Silk moved from Toronto on November 29, 1999 and moved to Los Angeles during the next decade. Seth Cooperman became her husband in 2007, when they met during an ActorsWorkshop held in Los Angeles. They were engaged in 2009, and wed in a civil ceremony in the month of December in that same year. After she had converted to Judaism and they renewed their wedding vows at the Jewish ceremony on the 10th of April 2011.
